Welcome to the Daniel Teicheira Memorial Foundation Website

About Daniel

Born on July 23, 1985 to Frank and Nancy Teicheira, and the youngest of four boys, Daniel was a vibrant, charismatic young man whose love and passion for sports was obvious at an early age.  Throughout his childhood, Daniel was involved in football, basketball, baseball, and track.  While he had a natural talent for them all, everyone that knew him could attest that the gridiron was where he excelled at the most.

In high school, Daniel played Varsity football as a freshman and sophomore, something almost unheard of at this age.  During this time, he received numerous awards, held a handful of school records, and was already on several college radars as an up-and-coming high school athlete to keep an eye out for in the future.

Unfortunately, Daniel was unable to live out his dreams of continuing his football career past his sophomore year of high school.  On the night of July 1, 2002, while driving home to his parents house in the rural country area of Manteca, he suffered fatal injuries in a single car accident.

The news of Daniel's passing rocked the Manteca community and beyond.  It was obvious from the outpour of love and support from family, friends, and even strangers, that Daniel had made a significant impact on so many in the short 16 years he was alive.  An impact so huge, that even his high school's football stadium was named in his honor - The Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium.

About the Foundation

After Daniel's untimely passing, a foundation was created in his name to continue his legacy and support high school student athletes.  For the past 15 years, the foundation has been granting scholarships to graduating high school senior athletes with the purpose of encouraging their academics and helping further their education at the college level.

Our mission is to reach out to as many deserving student athletes as possible and increase the number of scholarships granted each year.  Because Daniel was unable to continue his athletics and education at the next level,  it is our honor to help those do so in his name.
